If something looks wrong, start with the state of the thing you are looking at. Most "missing" buttons are really a state that does not allow that action yet.
Tournament states
| State | What it means | Who can do what |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Only organizers can see it. | Organizers edit everything and press Open registration. |
| Registration | Entries are open. | Players enter; organizers can open check-in or start. |
| Check-in | Entrants must confirm they are present. | Teams check in; organizers can close check-in. |
| Ready | Check-in is closed. | Organizers seed, preview and start. |
| Generating | The bracket is being built — this lasts moments. | Nobody. A double-press cannot create two brackets. |
| In progress | The bracket is live. | Players report and confirm; organizers run the desk. |
| Completed | Every match is decided. | Organizers publish standings. |
| Finalized | Standings are published. | Read-only, apart from streams and VODs. |
| Cancelled | The organizer stopped it. | Entrants are refunded. The page still opens. |
Entry states
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Awaiting payment | A paid entry is holding a slot while you check out. It expires. |
| Checkout expired | The hold ran out unpaid. Register again if there is room. |
| Registered | You are in. You may still need to complete a roster and check in. |
| Waitlisted | The field was full. You will be seated if a place opens. |
| Checked in | You will be in the draw. A team's roster is locked. |
| Playing | The bracket includes you. |
| Eliminated | You lost your last life. Your finishing place is still recorded. |
| Disqualified | An organizer removed you for a reason on record. |
| Withdrawn | You left. |
Match states
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not ready yet | An earlier match has not decided who plays. |
| Ready | Both sides are known. Play, then report. |
| Awaiting confirmation | A score was reported and the other side must answer. |
| Disputed | The sides disagree; an organizer decides. |
| Completed | Decided. |
| Bye | You advanced without playing. |
| Walkover | An opponent was disqualified or withdrew, so you advanced. |
"I can't see the button"
| Missing | Likely reason |
|---|---|
| Register | Registration has not opened, has closed, or the tournament has started. A closing date in the past blocks entries even when the status still says Registration. |
| Register a team | You are signed out, or you are already on an entry in this tournament. |
| Check in | Check-in has not opened, your roster is short of the minimum, or a paid entry is unpaid. |
| Report result | Your match is not Ready, the tournament uses organizers-only reporting, or you are not the captain. |
| Withdraw | The bracket has been drawn. |
| Manage tournament | You are not an owner, admin or moderator of the club, or of the partner club hosting it. |
| Cash prize pool | Your club is not approved, or no entry fee is set. |
| Open check-in | Check-in is not switched on for this tournament. |
Quick answers
For players
How do I change my in-game ID? Edit it on your roster row before check-in, or save it once in Settings → Game IDs. After check-in the roster is locked.
I accepted a roster invite by mistake. Use Leave this team before the team checks in.
Why was I not placed in the bracket? Most often the team did not check in, or did not have enough accepted players when check-in closed. Entries that are not checked in are left out of the draw.
My opponent has not shown up. Follow the no-show rule in the tournament's rules. Message the organizer and, if the rules allow, report a walkover. If the match is reported wrongly, use This is not what happened.
Can I enter two teams in one tournament? No. A player holds one entry per tournament.
Will I be refunded? Withdrawing before check-in opens refunds the full fee. After that, the place is yours to lose. A cancelled tournament refunds everyone. See Enter a tournament.
For captains
A teammate can't be invited. They may have declined recently (wait 24 hours), be outside the club, already be on an entry in this tournament, or have too many unanswered invites from you.
Can a co-captain check us in? Yes. Co-captains can manage the roster and check the team in. Only the captain pays, withdraws the team or reports scores.
For organizers
The tournament is open but nobody can register. Check Registration closes. A date in the past stops entries. The console shows an amber warning with a shortcut to Settings.
I started too early. Start cannot be undone. Registration locks, but results can still be corrected with Override. If the event cannot run, Cancel tournament refunds everyone.
A team keeps appearing in my dispute queue. Resolve each dispute with a written ruling. The queue is also your audit trail.
Can I change the format after entries came in? Yes until you press Start, but an entry-type change locks at the first registration. For groups + knockout, EVENTA asks you to confirm if teams are already in.
Can I host with another club? Yes. Ask a partner to host one tournament from Club partnerships. They run the desk until it finishes; either club can end hosting before Start.
